Fueling Your Caregiving Journey
Registration Ends this Friday, April 22nd!
Project Compassion’s 9th Annual Spring Symposium Friday, April 29, 2011, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM The Cedars of Chapel Hill Retirement Community Ball Room in Chapel Hill, NC
(Registration begins at 8:30 AM)
Register for this important event focusing on ways caregivers, community members, and health care professionals can maintain their energy while supporting those around them living with illness!
The caregiving journey can be like a road trip. It sounds simple enough, get from point A to point B, but it is often filled with more surprises. Caregivers, like a driver, must prepare, take time for rest, and sometimes may need to veer off a set course because of necessity or for fun. In all of it, caregivers must take care of themselves, so they are better prepared to complete their journey of giving care to others.
This symposium will explore:
-
practical tools for staying in balance
-
riding the roller coaster of emotion
-
embracing family conflict
-
building bridges and making transitions work
-
maintaining boundaries and asking for help
-
using my strength
-
physician/caregiver conversations
Audience:
This symposium is designed for those who are caregivers, work with caregivers, and community members.

“Ask the Caregiving Coach” with Margery Pabst
The Spring Symposium is fast approaching on April 29. Thank you for the privilege of being your "Ask the Caregiving Coach" this past year. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you next week.
The Symposium meets a central need for many caregivers by providing an opportunity to network and to discover tools for taking care of yourself while caring for others. By the end of the conference, you will have an opportunity to explore many questions relating to your personal resiliency as you provide care for another. Some of the questions I've received lately are about personal resiliency, including:
-
Why do I feel so tired?
-
What can I do to maintain my personal worth?
-
What will happen if my role as a caregiver continues for a long period of time?
-
How do I make sense of the caregiving role?
-
How do I learn from this experience?
Questions like these require more time and exploration than the "Ask the Caregiving Coach" format provides, so I hope you'll attend. By the end of the Symposium, you'll be well on your way to developing your personal CAREGIVING ROADMAP!
Project Compassion’s Caregiving Coach, Margery Pabst is a nationally acclaimed author, speaker, and facilitator. Her fourth book, Enrich Your Caregiving Journey, won the 2010 “Caregiver Friendly Award” from Today’s Caregiver Magazine. In her book, she explores how successful caregivers take care of themselves while caring for others.
