| Healthcare Providers Become Advocates Statewide |
|
Educating healthcare students and professionals is a cornerstone of Finding Your Voice. In 2009 over 1,000 future and current physicians, nurses, social workers and other health care professionals learned about the patient perspective, advocacy, advance care planning and organ/tissue donation through Finding Your Voice. The response from healthcare students in all disciplines has been tremendous. A student at UNC Medical School preparing for residency says: “This was the best lecture that we have had in medical school. As medical students, I believe we need more of the patient perspective. It makes us remember why we went into medicine.” A Duke physician says, “I have utilized Christensen’s work with medical students and house staff as part of Duke’s inpatient service and two outpatient clinics.” Finding Your Voice is the first such initiative in the nation to integrate advance care planning, organ/tissue donation and patient advocacy education. As we continue to break new ground in patient advocacy, we look forward to keeping you up to date on our progress! Finding Your Voice for Caring Professionals Through Finding Your Voice, Tiffany Christensen has educated over 1,000 medical, nursing, social work and divinity school students on patient perspective, patient advocacy, organ/tissue donation and advance care planning.
